Wonderful tour of a Grand Lady

What a jewel for this beautiful community and the State of Mississippi. Morgan and Andy were fantastic, and we so appreciate the tour.

Be prepared to find the attraction not open

I love the history behind the carousel and we had a scenic tour of the area while driving to find it; however when we arrived it was not open. We peeked in the windows. The hours and days posted for operations do not hold true. But it is a neat carousel so we gave it 4 stars anyway.

    Awesome

Visited twice. First time the family enjoyed the 1.2 mile loop around the reservoir. The next morning I went for a solo trail run that covered 7 miles. Absolutely loved the park. Kids enjoyed the playground as well.

    Immersive Artistic Experience

The gallery is absolutely beautiful. Who knew so many famous musicians, actors, actresses, and artists were born and/or raised in Mississippi?! The gallery was extremely informative and interactive. It has two floors of exhibits, all of them educational and inspiring - showcasing the stories behind the many talents of well-known Mississippians. I explored the gallery for 2hrs (until closing time) and could have stayed an additional 2hrs to really take my time and immerse myself in the experience. This is a must see and experience activity located in quintessential historic downtown Meridian. The Mississippi Walk of Fame is across the street, as well as Weidmann’s, a restaurant that has been serving up southern dishes for over 180 years. Well Done Mississippi!!

He is an interesting precursor to modern country music

Jimmy Rodgers invented yodeling and he toured much of his life spreading his style of country music. I almost did not visit his museum because he had the morals of a house cat but decided not to be so judgemental. I did give him only 4 stars because of it though.

Great For A Civil War Buff

I stopped off at the Old Depot Train Museum at 1801 Front Street to see the rail "Bow Ties" left by General Sherman. A quick fly by but is it ever so cool. Worth it.

Great Place to visit and listen to music

Hamasa Shrine Temple Theater is a "classic" theater. If you just like visiting historical buildings then come by for a tour. It is a fantastic building to visit, but the best part of Hamasa Theater is that it is still used. I have been to many events in the theater and they have all been great. Plays, musicals, concerts, and movies. Hopefully they will play the pipe organ for you. It is a blast from the past! The seats are comfortable even through they are old. In fact more comfortable then the movie theater in the mall. Food prices are affordable too. Come help Meridian keep this great historical place open. Visit the Theater!!!!

    Follow the Stars

We were heading into Weidmann's on 22nd Ave. in Meridian when we took some time to notice the stars in the sidewalk. We found some favorite musicians and entertainers - Jim Henson, Muddy Waters, Leontyne Price. The Walk of Fame extends from the MSU Riley Center to the entrance of The MAX and includes writers, actors, singers, musicians, artists. This attraction is outdoors and is open 24/7 all year - free of charge. Visit the MSARTS website for more information. A map of the walk is not yet available.

    Red porch looks vacant

Arrived on a Thursday, 12- noon. The front porch is empty; weeds and bushes have overgrown the walkway and porch. Front door is locked. The yard area inside the fencing is overgrown. So sad- we were looking forward to shopping here. The picture and description on this website was very inviting. I hope this review will save someone the trip.
